The Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation (Financial Academy) is one of the leading oldest Russian universities, training economists, financiers, financial law lawyers, IT professionals, sociologists and political scientists. The history of the Financial University began in December 1917, when the People's Commissariat of Finance decided to create the first specialized financial university in the history of Russia - the Moscow Financial and Economic Institute, which was opened on March 2, 1919 in the center of Moscow, on Tverskoy Boulevard 12. Its first The rector was DP Bogolepov, a graduate of Moscow State University, deputy to the People's Commissar of Finance of the RSFSR. The first set was 280 people. MFEI was the first higher educational institution in Russia, which aims to train experienced, educated employees of financial institutions of the country. In the early 20-ies it was closed, then restored as a faculty, and in 1930 - as an independent institution. In 1931 the Moscow Accounting and Economic Institute began its work, reorganized and renamed in 1934 to the Moscow Credit Economic Institute. In September 1946, these two educational institutions united and the Moscow Financial Institute (MFI) was formed.
