In 2015 it will be 150 years since its inception. December 3, 1865, on the Highest Command of Emperor Alexander II, the Petrovskaya Agricultural and Forest Academy was established. The opening of the first higher agricultural educational institution was the answer to the challenge of the time. Russia badly needed competent specialists capable of organizing agricultural production on a scientific basis, which only a specialized higher education institution could prepare. For a 150-year history in the RGAU-MAAA named after K.A. Timiryazev formed the leading Russian scientific schools, scientists and teachers of which made up the glory of the national agricultural science and higher agrarian education. On the basis of the structural subdivisions of Timiryazevka, a whole network of agricultural educational and research institutions was created in our country. The University honors its historic mission with honor and remains today the leader of Russian agrarian education. Recently, his role has increased even more. In April 2014, the RGAU - MCA named after K.A. Timiryazev returned to Moscow State Agroengineering University named after V.P. Goryachkin (MGAU) and Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering (MGUP).
